Image acquisition is now built directly into IDfunction PIAM

Image acquisition at a large scale for access processes and badge production is something we are very familiar with. Our IDimage solution has been widely used by organizations that need to manage photo capture at scale. Over time, that gave us a very clear understanding of where image acquisition creates friction, especially when it sits as its own entity in a wider identity and access process.
We have now brought that experience directly into IDfunction PIAM.
The result is a more integrated way to capture, validate and manage photos as part of the same environment that already handles identities, approvals, access profiles and workflows.
Photo capture where the identity is already managed
The new Image Acquisition functionality can be added to any form created within IDfunction PIAM. Users can take a photo directly with the device camera or upload an existing image through the browser, including from a mobile device.
The person providing the photo does not need their own PIAM user profile. For contractors, visitors or other external identities, a link to the relevant form can be sent directly to them. They can open it on their device, take or upload their photo and submit it as part of the onboarding process.
This is particularly useful when photo identification is required before a credential can be issued. Instead of collecting the image separately and adding it to the identity later, it becomes part of the same process used to collect identity information, manage approvals and create access profiles.
More consistent image quality, with less manual checking
The feature supports browser-based capture and upload, with configurable checks around image quality and face positioning.
The practical benefit is simple: users get clearer guidance during capture, and administrators spend less time manually checking whether an image is suitable. That creates a more consistent process before the image is used for badge production or other identity-related purposes.
Fewer tools, more control
The bigger advantage is what happens when image acquisition becomes part of PIAM itself. Instead of passing identity data and photos between separate tools, the image stays connected to the same identity record, access profiles and workflows already managed in the platform. For organizations managing large numbers of employees, contractors and visitors, that creates a more direct way to manage the identity lifecycle.
It can also reduce tool sprawl. Fewer separate systems mean fewer integrations to maintain, fewer handovers between providers and a smaller number of places where sensitive identity data needs to move. That can simplify the setup and ongoing management of the wider access ecosystem while supporting stronger governance around how identity information is collected, processed and linked to access decisions.
A more connected onboarding process
Photo acquisition is only one part of onboarding, but it often interacts with several others. By bringing it directly into IDfunction PIAM, organizations can connect image capture with the wider process around identity creation, approvals, access profiles and credential issuance.
The result is a more centrally managed experience, with fewer disconnected steps and clearer control over how identities move through the access lifecycle.

About us
For more than two decades, evolutionID has helped organizations bring clarity and control to identity and access. We focus on what matters most: secure, reliable processes that are simple to operate and built to last.
We bring together Physical Identity & Access Management (PIAM), card and employee management, and RFID‑supported workflows into one coherent approach. Our modular building blocks allow identity and access systems to adapt over time—without disrupting what already works. The result is less complexity, more transparency, and greater confidence in everyday operations.
As a long‑term partner, we guide our customers step by step—from analysis and architecture to implementation, migration, and ongoing support. With teams in Munich, Bonn, and Frankfurt, we work closely with organizations across the DACH region to create access infrastructures that stay secure, stable, and ready for what comes next.
