PROJECT REPORT:
Springs and stabilizers form the foundation for safe, efficient, and comfortable mobility – from sports cars and sedans to trucks. thyssenkrupp Springs & Stabilizers is globally synonymous with innovation and high-tech in chassis technology – and benefits greatly from centralized identity management by evolutionID.
Even a simple coil spring must be precisely matched to the vehicle if one wants to literally maintain road grip. However, the product range of thyssenkrupp Springs & Stabilizers also includes full stabilizers as well as weight-optimized tubular and split stabilizers for active chassis systems. The extensive portfolio of the globally active company even includes lightweight and CFRP products made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic. The company looks back on a long tradition: a production site of today's Springs & Stabilizers Business Unit was founded as early as 1562 near Werdohl. Today, the company, with over 3000 employees, produces at locations in Europe, North and South America, and China, serving as an innovative and production-strong partner for the entire automotive industry. For an internationally positioned company, identity management is a significant cost factor. In the search for a process partner for this complex task, the project managers at thyssenkrupp Springs & Stabilizers became aware of us as an existing supplier for other business units and opted for a complete solution based on our ID management system IDfunction. The consistently web-based software consolidates all employee identities in a central database. Through individual interfaces, IDfunction is networked with access control and time tracking systems at all locations, as well as with the company's SAP environment. This prevents incorrect bookings or security breaches, for example, if an ID card is lost or an employee leaves the company. Here, the centralized concept guarantees reliable and company-wide blocking of all authorizations. Nevertheless, the open, device-independent system allows for decentralized administration and production of ID cards, as well as location-specific distribution of authorizations and master data. This avoids detours, for example, in the identity management of visitors and external companies, and ensures that ID cards are immediately available. For the production of visitor passes, the company chose thermo-rewrite-coated (TRW) blanks. Using a special print head, inscriptions can be applied to these and then erased. This is done by regulating heat intensity and cooling speed. This waste-reducing technology makes the reusable cards cost-efficient and environmentally friendly.
"From evolutionID, we received exactly the right mix of centralization and site orientation," praises Adil Sahin from IT Management at thyssenkrupp Springs & Stabilizers. "With this efficient ID management system, we save costs and increase our security level."
