PRESS RELEASE:

The Spanish supermarket chain Dinosol and the industry-leading scale manufacturer Bizerba rely on modern, contactless RFID technology from evolutionID and RFID readers from Elatec for secure employee login at POS devices.

Anyone who buys meat, fruit, or other groceries in a supermarket knows them, the calibrated precision scales from Bizerba. At the service counters, they display the weight of the selected goods and print receipts for checkout at the till. To track service behavior and weighing processes, the employee working at the counter must log in with a personal code. In many branches, this is still done by typing in a numerical code. However, this method is not tamper-proof and also quite prone to errors. IT departments often spend many hours a day resetting forgotten passwords. The well-known Spanish supermarket chain Dinosol is now breaking new ground in authentication: At the start of their shift, the employee logs in contactlessly at the scale using their personal RFID card. The necessary data for a secure login process is AES-encrypted and tamper-proof stored on a Mifare DESFire EV2 transponder. This allows each weighing process to be uniquely assigned to an employee across all branches. Logout occurs either manually or automatically at the end of the shift.

Service behavior is transparently assigned to the employee

The personal login serves not only for tracking and inventory but also for customer service: Using the QR code on each receipt, every transaction can be uniquely identified. The customer can identify the employee by picture and evaluate their service performance. Every employee can view these ratings via an employee app at any time. Login is performed via a contactless reader with an integrated 13.56 MHz antenna. The TWN4-Reader operates according to standards ISO14443A+B and ISO15696. The keycards are DESFire-EV1 / EV2 versions with an 8 KB chip. The new login infrastructure for a total of 800 Dinosol branches and 1,000 RFID readers comes from evolutionID; the POS app is 100% from our partner Bizerba. The well-known Munich system house is a leader in vendor-independent RFID consulting and digital identities. “The extensive rollout across so many branches requires an absolutely reliable plug-and-play solution,” explains Ali Gülüm, together with Markus Wittke Managing Director and Partner at evolutionID. "The reader is supplied by us with customer-specific firmware and is, after connecting it to the POS device, immediately operational without further system changes." immediately operational." "The contactless login with service tracking is just one of many possibilities that RFID technology and central digital identities offer today," adds Markus Wittke. "We always opt for customized solutions, because we believe that security technology must always adapt to the customer's processes – not the other way around.

About us
For more than two decades, evolutionID has helped organizations bring clarity and control to identity and access. We focus on what matters most: secure, reliable processes that are simple to operate and built to last.

We bring together Physical Identity & Access Management (PIAM), card and employee management, and RFID‑supported workflows into one coherent approach. Our modular building blocks allow identity and access systems to adapt over time—without disrupting what already works. The result is less complexity, more transparency, and greater confidence in everyday operations.

As a long‑term partner, we guide our customers step by step—from analysis and architecture to implementation, migration, and ongoing support. With teams in Munich, Bonn, and Frankfurt, we work closely with organizations across the DACH region to create access infrastructures that stay secure, stable, and ready for what comes next.
